Setting the Record Straight

I’ve been made aware that some members of Johnson Chapel are spreading false statements about me and others.

I’m not going to use this space to go back and forth or defend myself point by point. That’s not what this blog is for. But I will say this—if anyone has questions about my character, who I am, or how I live my life, I welcome you to reach out to my friends, coworkers, community members, and family who are not part of this church. They know me well and can speak for themselves.

I also want to directly address one specific and serious rumor—that my mother left my father because of abuse.

That is emphatically not true.

Out of respect for the truth, and because of the seriousness of that accusation, I am sharing a message from my mother—who would be the one affected—clearly stating that this claim is false.

I will not engage in rumor or speculation, and I won’t allow this space to turn into that either.
